The Eagles and Saints have announced their inactive players for their game later today, and, as expected, Kevin Kolb is getting the start at quarterback in place of the injured Donovan McNabb. The Eagles hinted all week that there was a chance McNabb could play despite his broken rib, but it never really seem all that likely they would throw him back out there so quickly.
Here is the full list of inactive players for each team:
Eagles: WR Reggie Brown, S Quintin Demps, WR Brandon Gibson, OG Todd Herremans, LB Joe Mays, OL Mike McGlynn, QB Donovan McNabb, QB Michael Vick
Saints: OT Jammal Brown, LB Jonathan Casillas, DT Kendrick Clancy, RB Lynell Hamiton, WR Rod Harper, C Nick Leckey, CB Leigh Torrance
As for the other Eagles that are inactive, Mays, Demps and Herremans are all dealing with injuries so they weren't expected to suit up. Curiously, with both Brown and Gibson inactive, the Birds are only suiting up four wide receivers. I thought for sure that Gibson would get a shot this week. Michael Vick is of course inactive because he is still suspended by the league.
The Saints don't have any unexpected inactives but are somewhat surprisingly suiting up running back Pierre Thomas. Thomas isn't expected to play much, if at all, and will instead be insurance should Reggie Bush or Mike Bell get injured.
This should be a very interesting game this week. We will see how Kevin Kolb does with basically his entire career on the line. Go Birds!
