Think it's a coincidence the Eagles have lost two straight games and Brian Westbrook either hasn't played or hasn't been 100%? Anyone who has followed the Eagles knows that while Correll Buckhalter is a solid back-up running back, the Eagles offense loses it's explosiveness and most of it's big play ability when #36 isn't healthy.
Well, the Eagles might have to do without their top playmaker once again. Westbrook, who played against the Redskins on Sunday despite an ankle injury, injured himself further in the Eagles loss to Washington. Luckily he didn't injure his ankle further, but he did manage to break two ribs. His availability for next weekend's game against the Niners is in question, although knowing that the Eagles have a bye following the game in San Francisco, it might be wise to sit Westbrook and give him two weeks off to get all healed up.
Normally, a game against the Niners is nothing to worry about. Even without Brian Westbrook the Eagles should be able to beat a mediocre team like San Francisco. Unfortunately, the way the Eagles have looked through five weeks, no game is a gimme, no matter who the opponent is. If the Eagles can't beat the Niners, regardless of whether Westbrook suits up or not, they have some serious issues.
