Phillies must wait for opponent as Red Sox pull of thrilling win

(AP Photo/Chris O'Meara)
The Rays appeared to have their World Series ticket punched as they led 7-0 against the Red Sox in the 7th inning. Boston proved otherwise after homers by David Ortiz and J.D. Drew brought them back into the game and then the Sox won in the bottom of the 9th, 8-7. It was a miraculous comeback for a team that has had many in their history and will keep the ALCS going. The Rays still lead 3-2 and they are headed back home, but you have to believe the Red Sox have all the momentum right now.

For the Phillies, it means they can continue to sit back and relax as it appears the Rays and Red Sox have a lot more to settle. Let them beat up on each other and let the Phillies take care of the worn-out winner.

Yeah, cause that worked out so well for the Rockies and Cards.

Good luck with that.

It worked for the 2005 White Sox and 1996 Yankees. The White Sox had 5 days off and the Yankees had 6. So, there you go, it goes both ways. Sometimes it's good for time off, sometimes it's not. I don't think you can make a clear statement either way.
