It could have been the easiest decision Charlie Manuel has ever had to make: World Series MVP Cole Hamels will be the Opening Day starter for the Phillies. While this isn't surprising news, it is interesting that Manuel made the decision on the first day that pitchers and catchers report. Normally, Manuel makes the announcement a few weeks into Spring Training.
It will be the first of hopefully many Opening Day starts for Cole Hamels. It will be on April 5th against the Atlanta Braves, who will likely have Derek Lowe on the mound.
Can't wait until the Phillies start defending their World F'n Championship!
