McNabb and Mikell the latest Eagles added to the Pro Bowl

The Eagles will be well represented in Miami. After the Saints made the Super Bowl, several spots opened up on the NFC Pro Bowl roster, and two Eagles have stepped into the void: Donovan McNabb and Quintin Mikell. McNabb, who is replacing Drew Brees, will be going to his 6th Pro Bowl. Mikell, who is replacing Darren Sharper, will be going to his 1st Pro Bowl.

Neither player is incredibly deserving of a Pro Bowl nod this year but, under the new system, there are more players making it and thus everything is a bit watered down. McNabb was the first alternate in the NFC and knew he was going to be invited as soon as the NFC Championship Game was over. Mikell is a bit of a surprising addition given that he was much more deserving last season.

There will now be 9 Eagles in the Pro Bowl: McNabb, Mikell, Jon Dorenbos, DeSean Jackson, Jason Peters, Leonard Weaver, Asante Samuel, Trent Cole and David Akers. That's a lot of players from a team that got trounced in the first round of the playoffs.
