Cedric Thonton's time on the 53 man roster didn't last long. On Sunday, the Eagles claimed guard Kyle DeVan off waivers from the Colts and released Thornton from the roster.
DeVan, who has started 21 games in his two year career, will be a nice depth player for the offensive line and is familiar with the Eagles system having played for offensive line coach Howard Mudd while with the Colts. He will be insurance for both guard spots behind Evan Mathis and Danny Watkins, who both don't have the strongest holds on their starting positions. Don't be surprised to see DeVan starting a few games this season, especially if Watkins struggles early.
Thornton, an undrafted rookie free agent, could still stick around on the practice squad.
