Eagles cut three, reduce roster to 72

Let the cutting begin! The Eagles, who need to get to their final roster of 53 players by tomorrow, began cutting players today. LB Curtis Gatewood, DT Willie Williams and TE Eugene Bright were the first three casualties today as the Eagles reduced their roster from 75 to 72.

Both Gatewood and Williams were longshots at best to make the roster considering how deep the Birds are along the defensive line and at linebacker. Bright is a slight surprise although he clearly had been slipping down the tight end depth chart after an impressive showing early in training camp. Bright's release likely means that Rob Myers will make the roster as the third tight end.

As always, my prediction of the final Eagles roster is here.
