Eagles sign DE Jason Babin, release three

Right after signing a linebacker to add depth after losing Stewart Bradley, the Eagles have made another defensive signing today. Jason Babin, a defensive end who played for Seattle and Kansas City last season, was also signed to a one year deal. Babin is a former first round pick by the Houston Texans back in 2004, but he hasn't played like a top pick, totaling 15 sacks in 52 career games. Babin is likely just a training camp body and is a long shot at best to make the team.

To make room for Babin, as well as Matt Wilhelm and Jeremy Maclin, the Eagles released three players today. Defensive tackle Jervonte Jackson, wide receiver Marcus Thigpen and cornerback Courtney Robinson were all let go. None were expected to realistically challenge for a spot on the team. Jervonte Jackson is most notable because he is the brother of Eagles offensive lineman Jamaal Jackson.
