Two reports have come out in recent days regarding Anquan Boldin and the Eagles continuing search for a top wide receiver. The reports aren't earth-shattering, it's the typical information and misinformation we have been hearing all along.
The first report is encouraging to Birds fans. According to John Clayton of ESPN, the Eagles are the frontrunners to acquire Anquan Boldin with the Giants the next team in line. Clayton believes it would take a 1st and 3rd rounder to get Boldin, certainly a reasonable price for the Eagles since they have that extra first round pick to dangle.
The second report is not as promising. According to ProFootballTalk.com, the Cardinals have no interest in trading Boldin. Boldin is under contract for 2 more years so Arizona doesn't feel any pressure to move him right now. Despite his requests for a trade, the Cards want to hold on to the disgruntled receiver, much like the Bengals held onto to Chad Johnson despite his many trade demands. Boldin may just have to wait it out and play for his measly 2.75 million next season. He won't have any leverage to leave town unless he holds out during training camp.
So, what's the bottom line from these two reports? We don't really know anything yet. We don't know if the Cardinals will trade Boldin. We don't know what it would take to get him if they did. Just about the only thing we do know is that the Eagles should be in the mix should Boldin ever hit the market.
We'll have to continue to wait this one out. Like I said last offseason, don't hold your breath waiting for the Eagles to get a top wideout.
i duno about you but i'll be living on yardbarker rumors for the next 3 months.
ReplyDeletehaha dude same another good site is pro sports daily thats factual info directly from a source like a newspaper or something but yeah im sure u go on Profootbaltalk.com to but yeah im getin pumped
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see the Bengals and Cardinals simply swap WR's (Johnson for Boldin) and call it a day. I think both teams would be better off a result, and the players would get their wish of moving on at the same time.
ReplyDeleteIts very interesting to hear the Eagles dream year after year. The headline says it all. Why would the Cardinals make this years second best NFC team better? If they trade him it won't be to a top NFC contender. Take that to the bank. Bidwill is tight but he's also one that won't willingly help the NFC East.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure the Cards would trade with the Eagles. In today's NFL, you trade with whoever gives you the best deal, unless they are in your division.
ReplyDeleteYou all are crazy, that would be the dumbest move in the cardinals part. They could at least get a kellen winslow and a pick... plus if we can trade Leinart for Gonzlez and a 2nd and 5th rounder this trade would make no sense. The card need to quit being cheap and make boldin and Dockett happy. These Nfl players are also to fault, DONT FORGET THEY ARE THE PEOPLE WHO SIGNED THESE CONTRACTS SO STICK WITH WHAT YOU SIGNED !!!!!!!!!!
