Flyers will face Penguins in first round in Battle of Pennsylvania Part 2

The picture above is from the last time these two teams met, in the Eastern Conference Finals last season, but this year the Flyers and Penguins are going to begin the playoffs facing one another. With the Flyers beating the Islanders today for the 6th time in 6 tries this season and the Penguins knocking off the Canadiens, both teams have assured themselves either the 4th or 5th spot in the Eastern Conference. Who gets the 4th seed and therefore the home ice advantage has yet to be determined because both teams are tied with 99 points and the Flyers still have one more game to play. The Flyers play the Rangers tomorrow and if they win or tie, they will get the 4th seed. If they lose, the Penguins are the 4th seed because they have one more win this season.

Facing Pittsburgh is going to be no easy task for the Flyers, especially with the way the Penguins have finished out the season winning 9 of their last 12 games. The Pens also took the season series against the Flyers, 4-2. It will be a rough first round battle that is sure to go 7 games and leave the winner beat up for whoever they play in the second round.

The Battle for Pennsylvania is on, let's hope the Flyers can have a better showing this season than they did in the 2008 Eastern Conference Finals. Look for much more on the series in the coming days.
